“Arise, and take up thy bed, and go up unto thy house. And he arose, and departed to his house." (Matthew 9: 1-8)
The paralyzed man could not have gotten to Jesus on his own. Unable to walk, he had to rely on loyal, caring friends to bring him there. Their faith and their willingness to bear his burden may have been one of the things that moved Jesus to pity. He immediately blessed the man. Read More...

“Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof; but only say the word, and my servant shall be healed.” (Matthew 8: 5-17)
Prayer is difficult when we are sick. We ache, feel feverish and our thoughts are muddled by powerful medications. In our woozy state, we can’t focus; we can’t muster the energy to pray for ourselves. That’s when we need a prayer warrior - - like the Centurion in today’s Gospel, who stepped into the breach when his servant became paralyzed. Read More...
