In Over Your Head? So Was Peter

To stay afloat in a sea of troubles, we have to remember that Jesus is always close at hand and ready to reach out and pull us to safety.
When Peter stepped out of the boat and started to sink in the storm-tossed waters, he may have been up to his neck in trouble; he may have lost faith in his own ability to walk on water; but Peter still had faith in Jesus. “Lord, save me,” he cried out. Jesus was so close at hand that He simply reached out and pulled Peter to safety.

When we are in over our heads and panic sets in, we may start thrashing about wildly – like a drowning swimmer – and drag our would-be rescuers down with us. To stay afloat in a sea of troubles, we have to remember that Jesus is always close at hand and ready to reach out and pull us to safety. But, like Peter, we have to call upon Him.
